BELIEFS “Leaper” is KEXP’s SONG OF THE DAY on the Morning Show with John Richards.

“Shoegaze is alive and well with Canadian band Beliefs. It comes as no surprise that the duo of Josh Korody and Jesse Crowe were united by their love of My Bloody Valentine and Sonic Youth after intially meeting at a mutual friend’s birthday party.

On the title track of their sophomore full-length, Leaper, the band push through the shimmering washes of reverb with their guy/girl harmonies, setting off a swoon with Kevin Shields-influenced guitar effects. A spoken-word part towards the end truly calls to mind Kim Gordon in “Kool Thing.” If you’re gonna wear your influences on your sleeve, might as well have the best influences.” – KEXP

NAILBITER premiere “Splatter” video on THUMP / VICE.

“Last month, Josh Korody somehow found time to put out an experimental industrial album Formats under the appropriately goth moniker Nailbiter with Toronto-based label Hand Drawn Dracula.

Now we have a new video for one of the record’s highlights, the uneasy, droning “Splatter,” directed by Adam Leon, follows the artist as he prowls darkened city streets and alleyways as if he’s being pursued by a shadowy Zodiac-esque killer” – THUMP/VICE

VALLENS “Tennessee Haze” video premiere on NOISEY ~ “Directed by fellow Torontonian Shelby Fenlon, the clip finds Vallens mastermind Robyn Phillips wandering through a forest and other nature zones. It’s appropriately soft-focus, and the off-kilter chord changes of the song add to the feeling of dreamy disorientation.

‘Tennessee Haze’ was one of the first Vallens songs recorded,” says Phillips, “The video is inspired by a lot of different things, but it’s emphasis is on the silver lining of the day-to-day, like the lyrics of the song.”

“Chastity is the fire-breathing project of Ontario’s Brandon Williams. ~ a gigantic burst of noise worthy of instant attention. ~ Fierce would be an understatement. This is like driving a ten-tonne truck into a block of scrap metal. It’s destructive, but defined by purpose from start to finish.” – DIY

“scorched guitars, flailing drums and vocals that flit between desperation and becoming supremely energised.” – CLASH

NAILBITER‘s FORMATS was Written / Recorded / Mixed / Mastered by Josh Korody (BELIEFS / WISH / BREEZE) in his apartment January – July 2015. A transitional project leaning more on the exploration of sounds and rhythms than melodys and popular structures of other associated acts. Nailbiter Formats out September 25, 2015 on Digital via Hand Drawn Dracula.

“Nailbiter (Josh Korody of Beliefs) soundtracks your industrial nightmare on ‘Formats’ – Taking inspiration from late-’80s/early-’90s industrial (and maybe a little DJ Shadow)” ~ BROOKLYN VEGAN

“Formats is a electronic album made up of industrial darkness, skin-crawling beats, and atmospheric drones akin to Aphex Twin’s Selected Ambient Works Volume II.” ~ EXCLAIM!
