Beliefs – Lily (live video)

“In August, Exclaim! TV was invited to Candle Recording to shoot a session with Toronto shoe-gazers, BELIEFS. Gearing up for a new album to be released in 2013, the band treated Exclaim! to a couple of album cuts that have not been released yet. You already got a taste for what the yet-to-be-titled album will sound like back in October when we posted the first song from the session, “Dead Water.” Now, you can take a listen to the second song from that session, “Lily.”” ~ Exclaim!TV Magazine

NOW MAGAZINE Best of Toronto – Readers’ Pick: Best Local Songwriter : Neil Haverty (BRUCE PENINSULA)

CONGRATS NEIL!!! “The lead singer of the sprawling prog folk collective BRUCE PENINSULA shares vocal duties with a number of other singers, but it’s his talent for songwriting and arranging that’s charmed NOW readers. We loved their last album, Open Flames, too, and gave it a NNNN review.” ~ NOW Magazine

Dream Affair & Artificial Records

Announcing the launch of ARTIFIAL RECORDS ~ a division of HAND DRAWN DRACULA Records ~ with a focus on cultivating artists patrolling the electronic, drone, and dark corners of the music scene. Artificial Records is Josh Voynovich (Artificial / Forming parties) and James Mejia (Hand Drawn Dracula / Mejia Design).

The first Artificial Release is DREAM AFFAIR‘s 12″ (February 2013) and Digital (December 2012) album. Stream the first video “The Porter” from the 12″ below.

PITCHFORK describes the young Brooklyn trio as “gothic sounds of 1980s Britain – fusing voguish Cure/Sisters of Mercy-derived morosity with industrial and pop leanings”.

Dusted ‘There Somehow’ Video

DUSTED releases a music video for “There Somehow”, collaborating with Canadian Director Scott Cudmore. The song, which pairs BRIAN BORCHERDT‘s haunting vocals with a simple guitar, hints at frustration in communication. Cudmore’s filmic take is equally vexed, showing a girl releasing all through a silent scream. It was premiered today via Stereogum.

Director Scott Cudmore had this to say about the new music video:
“Brian sent me the Dusted record last year and I immediately fell in love with it. It stayed in my car for almost the entire year. Something about the sounds and textures on that record, I guess they made me think that they could complement images and sounds of my own. The subject matter of ‘There Somehow’ and the short length of it really made sense with this material. It’s a different kind of project – it’s not a music video for a ‘single’ but more of a little film collaboration between two existing works.”
