BRUCE PENINSULA‘s video for ‘Pull Me Under’ from OPEN FLAMES. Available on White Vinyl, CD & Digital! Directed by Lara Mrkoci and Neil Haverty.
EXCLAIM! Nov 23 2011 – Now that we’ve had a few weeks to soak in Bruce Peninsula’s Open Flames, the Toronto-based collective have unveiled the latest video from their sophomore LP. This one is for the expansive, gospel-tinged stomper “Pull Me Under,” a track that boasts some lush choral harmonies and thundering drums.
The accompanying video is a kaleidoscopic mind-bender that’s largely made up of quickly intercut water and forest imagery. It’s a visually compelling clip, despite the fact that it’s almost impossible to make out what’s going on. In other words, this isn’t your average performance video.
BRUCE PENINSULA‘s video for ‘As Long As I Live’ from OPEN FLAMES. Out now on White Vinyl, CD & Digital! Directed by Lara Mrkoci and Neil Haverty. Theme song for feature film “Small Town Murder Songs”. Watch the trailer below…
Small Town Murder Songs, starting Peter Stormare (Fargo), is a modern, gothic tale of crime and redemption about an aging police officer from a small Ontario Mennonite town who hides a violent past until a local murder upsets the calm of his newly reformed life.
Hand Drawn Dracula is proud to be working with BRUCE PENINSULA, who return with their sophomore full-length album, Open Flames, October 4th 2011. The multi-musician ensemble gives us 10 new, sprawling songs, drawn from the skin of a drum and sung from deep down in the gut.
It has been quite a journey. Bruce Peninsula’s previous record, 2009’s self-released debut, A Mountain Is A Mouth immediately caught fire, garnering countless glowing reviews and a Polaris Music Prize long-list nomination. Their raucous, big top live show, featuring at times, a 10-musician sprawl, has converted audiences across the continent with headline appearances at SXSW, Pop Montreal and Halifax Pop Explosion. Songs from that album (along with Open Flames’ opening track) were used to score the full-length feature film Small Town Murder Songs, which premiered at the 2010 Toronto International Film Festival.
