TASSEOMANCY // 29 PALMS (VIDEO) + EU TOUR w/ ANDY SHAUF

TASSEOMANCY share surreal video for 29 Palms from the critically acclaimed “Do Easy” LP, out now on Hand Drawn Dracula, and announce EU/UK Tour w/ Andy Shauf. Purchase Limited Canadian Only Clear Vinyl Version of Do Easy HERE.

“The video for 29 Palms was created by our friend the very talented visual artist Jesi Jordan on one of her many adventures. To us, this song encapsulates so much: written for women; for artists and for any human who has ever felt themselves falling into nothingness while grasping at their own poetic string. Whether it be it a loss of self, loss of another or an attempt to create meaning in what we have all been recently reminded to be an obscene, unjust and uncertain world. This video helps push past the disappointment, the shock, and transforms the energy of apathy and apprehension into action. Jesi’s video is like a friend who calls us up on the phone and gently reminds us that life is not elsewhere but is happening right now and that’s all we’ve got. Immersed in the imaginative world of J.J. and her larger then life puppetry, 29 Palms gives us permission to be playful, to be soft, to be curious, to be real and to be constantly becoming our own stinky selves. SO how are you going to take your time? Why not seed the source of your own late blooming?” ~ Tasseomancy

“a witchy brew of new age mysticism, Cocteau Twins-style dreampop and good humor, with the Lightmans’ ethereal harmonies floating overtop” ~ BROOKLYN VEGAN

MORE “DO EASY” PRESS:

“Oracular chants drowse on the edge of visionary rapture, while the title track seems to have found its own cosmic portal, sounds of sea, saxophone and steel drums creating a kind of tropical Avolon, a beach party hosted by Bat For Lashes and Let’s Eat Grandma. Irresistible.” ~ MOJO 4 Stars

“Exquisite… On their sumptuous third album they situate their voices on a pillowy bed of experimental pop, freak folk and, best of all, the sax-enhanced exotica of the title track.” ~ Uncut 8/10

“Easily the finest work of art to come out of Canada all year… Do Easy is a beautiful, big-sounding lesson in how to do witty, wise, lyrical dream-pop with the sort pf perfection that the genre deserves.” ~ Monocle

Missoula has hypnotic rhythms with jazz brass and Bon Iver-y vocals. It creeps and slinks, with bursts of colour peppering the shadowy bones of the song – noises swoop in and out of earshot, never lingering long enough to clutter the atmosphere.”

It’s a really lovely record” ~ BROOKLYN VEGAN

“musical cues from Hebraic tradition, but enters the modern age with waves of warm synths and cool, hypnotic vocals” ~ EXCLAIM!

“holds itself as a deadbeat anthem for a generation unsure if anything is possible, synths and steady drums inhaling and exhaling, that’s worth drawing into your arms based on the tamber of their vocals alone – creatively endearing and deleightfully unsettling”

“glowing, dreamy retro-pop song, undercut with a little bit of melanchony – Romy and Sari’s lush vocals flit between pillowy and crystalline” ~ THE FADER

“Inspired by the wild flamingos of all the night karaoke soirees and the domestic manifesto of William S Burroughs’s The Discipline of DE, “Do Easy” is a iconoclast pop hit written from Romy Lightman’s sub-conscious in a basement apartment. Burroughs’s doctrine on finding “the easy way” struck me as something rare and I hung onto it like a piece of protection. Later on, I discovered that Genesis P-Orridge believed this text to be one of the greatest magic techniques for retraining the mind. Endorsed by Occultists, stoners, freaks, the ultra zen and the highly sensitive, Do Easy attempts to infuse the mundane with a gentle joy and a sense of simple delight. Tasseomancy’s choral interpretation was created with all this in mind. Additional vocals by Sari Lightman and arrangements by band members Johnny Spence on synth/piano and Evan Cartwright on drums with musical accompaniment by Brodie West on saxophone.” ~ TASSEOMANCY
