VALLENS premiere “Occured” via NOISEY
“Dimmed In My Display” EP stream via CBC MUSIC‘s FIRST PLAY!
Out July 6th via Hand Drawn Dracula // PRE-ORDER //

“There’s such an unnerving cinematic quality to Vallens. Dark yet melodic, lingering rock. A name borrowed from David Lynch’s Blue Velvet. Music videos with knife-sharp storytelling.” ~ NOISEY

“a provocative and powerful work from an emerging band that’s less interested in upholding the status quo of any genre – If this EP is any indication, they’re moving into something deeper and weirder for their sophomore album, and it’s thrilling” ~ CBC MUSIC

to fully allow the mind to be swept away on a journey that both delights and disturbs, in the most enchanting of ways”

CBC RADIO3 (INTERVIEW) – “Consent is layered in a cloudy haze of dusky guitars over mysterious melodies,
dreamy synthesizers seemingly taken from the lost tapes of a David Lynch film score, and shadowy, post punk grooves.”

VALLENS “Tennessee Haze” video premiere on NOISEY ~ “Directed by fellow Torontonian Shelby Fenlon, the clip finds Vallens mastermind Robyn Phillips wandering through a forest and other nature zones. It’s appropriately soft-focus, and the off-kilter chord changes of the song add to the feeling of dreamy disorientation.

‘Tennessee Haze’ was one of the first Vallens songs recorded,” says Phillips, “The video is inspired by a lot of different things, but it’s emphasis is on the silver lining of the day-to-day, like the lyrics of the song.”
