“First Look: Prepare to get hooked on the glistening new album from fuzzy dream-pop band, Beliefs” ~ Dazed & Confused
“using their seminal influences as a catalyst rather than template, “their self-titled debut album is a frighteningly assured and expansive effort, recalls last decade’s High Water Marks, Women or Deerhunter” ~ Rough Trade UK
“Layers of dreamy barely-there vocals, thick crunchy guitar chords, feedback overtones and urgent drums propel this addictive, rousing shoe-gaze anthem.” ~ Rough Trade/The Guardian UK
“The album will please fuzz-lovers with distortion-filled amp-melters like “Catch My Breath,” while seven-and-a-half minute closer “Gallows Bird” begins with contemplative arpeggios before exploding into a cinematic epic.” ~ Exclaim! Magazine
“You are invited too the strangest of dinner parties in Beliefs’ video for “Lilly.” The Toronto shoegazers deliver a hazy Matthew Barney-like fever dream with black and pink spaghetti served as the main course.” ~ Stereogum

NME The Buzz
Beamed up from the same Canadian hype scene that made good with Grimes and Doldrums, Toronto duo Beliefs are, in a musical sense, the blissed-out siblings of their freaky Montreal buddies. Clinging to the shaky shoegaze train, they manage to not be totally boring – unlike 99.9 per cent of their genre compatriots. Songs like ‘Catch My Breath’ give a serotonin injection to soaring dreampop that’s every bit as spiritual as their name suggests. What’s more, singer-guitarist Jesse Crowe used to have a hairdressing salon called – ahem – Grateful Head. Their self-titled debut LP – out March 4 on No Pain In Pop [March 5th on Hand Drawn Dracula & Manimal] – promises nifty cuts of the sonic variety.

“In August, Exclaim! TV was invited to Candle Recording to shoot a session with Toronto shoe-gazers, BELIEFS. Gearing up for a new album to be released in 2013, the band treated Exclaim! to a couple of album cuts that have not been released yet. You already got a taste for what the yet-to-be-titled album will sound like back in October when we posted the first song from the session, “Dead Water.” Now, you can take a listen to the second song from that session, “Lily.”” ~ Exclaim!TV Magazine
Toronto-based shoe-gazers BELIEFS share a track from their upcoming HDD full-length on Exclaim! TV. Filmed and recorded at Candle Recording (co-owned by vocalist/guitarist Josh Korody), watch BELIEFS perform the slow building “Dead Water”. ~ Exclaim!
